Kimono Dragons by Francis Roces When did you start designing? I started designing in high school in the mid80s How would you describe the style of your designs? Retro Asian inspired with modern twist. Where do you find your inspiration? All around me, Asian and sci-fi movies, Asian fiction, nature, fellow designers What materials do you usually work with? I like to use printed cotton blends, metallic textiles, and chiffon What is the story behind the name of your line? A friend of mine and I decided to team up. We came up with the name because she likes dragons and I am fascinated with kimonos. Combine the two and we came up KimonoDragons. What is the first piece you ever made? A wedding kimono coat for my sister for her wedding. If you could dress anyone in the world, who would it be? I don’t have anybody in mind. I would like to dress the everyday woman.
